Flamenco Bars in Seville

Seville is considered to be the artistic capital of Southern Spain and the birthplace of flamenco music. A visit to the area is never complete without stopping over in some of the city's flamenco bars and pubs.

If you go around, you'll actually find an incredibly wide selection of flamenco bars dotting the city streets, each offering their own different versions of flamenco music and dance. So if you are interested in visiting some of the best flamenco bars that Seville has to offer, here are some of them below:

La Carboneria - this flamenco bar is commonly featured in many guidebooks and is thus, most frequented by tourists and visitors. La Carboneria is located along c/ Levies, 18, Santa Cruz. The bar offers free music and flamenco is often played, especially during the winter and summer months at the back in their covered terazza. The front rustic bar on the other hand, offers good servings of food and drinks. The stone walls and floors and the piano create a very homey ambience to this bustling joint. Although known more as a tourist bar, La Carboneria is always worth the visit.

Lo Nuestro - this bar along c/ Beltis, 31, Triana, plays flamenco almost every night. Lo Nuestro is a great place to be for those who want to escape the noise and the crowd in most discotecas and bars in Triana.

Casa Anselma - this is one of the bars that are especially famous for their flamenco music. Casa Anselma is found along c/ Pages del Corro, 49, Triana. The joint was named after the owner herself who frequently greets every customer at the door. Although flamenco music is played for free, visitors are highly encouraged to sample a drink or two.

La Taberna - La Taberna is found just a few meters from the Lo Nuestro bar. The bar plays very soothing flamenco music, most of the time with only a signer and a guitar. This is a great place to chill out and escape the crowd and the wild music found in most flamenco bars in the area.

Simpecao - Simpecao offers visitors a unique experience of flamenco music, played just along the river. The bar features improvised and more upbeat flamenco music and is a very popular place among the locals.

El Perro Andaluz - this bar offers free flamenco music every week and is located along c/ Bustos Tavera in Santa Catalina. If you want to watch flamenco in El Perrro Andaluz, make sure that you visit later in the evening as performances can start late into the night. Although the bar is not dedicated solely to flamenco, El Perro is a strong advocate of local music and culture.

So try not to miss visiting one or two of these places when you find yourself in Seville in the future and get to truly experience flamenco at its finest.
