If you're planning to visit Europe's Iberian Peninsula, then you should certainly spend some time in Seville, Spain. Seville, located in the southern portion of Spain, is the capital of the province with the same name. A map of the city indicates that it's located on the River Guadaliquivir's plain. The city's population is approximately 703,000 (2009), making it Spain's fourth largest city.  

One of the places you'll definitely want to visit is the Seville Cathedral. Built between the early 1400s and 1500s, it's one of the largest ones in the entire world! It's also the world's largest Gothic cathedral. Amazingly, one man spent his entire life creating the building. The church was constructed atop a former Mosque, and includes two major components of the former structure: the Patio de los Naranjos, and the La Giralda bell tower. The interior of the cathedral is huge, containing an altarpiece that is perhaps the world's largest one.  

Another site worth seeing in Seville is the Torre de Oro. This structure is located on the River Guadaliquivir's banks, and was constructed by the Moors. The original function of the structure was to prevent any vessels from accessing the harbor. It accomplished this goal by connecting a chain from the Torre de Oro, to the river's opposite bank.

The Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería, Spain's oldest building, is another site worth visiting in Seville. It is the site of the yearly Feria de Abril, one of the most renowned bullfighting festivals on planet Earth! Besides the bullfighting festival itself, the structure is quite amazing. Its construction started in 1749, and lasted over 1.25 centuries. The plaza's exquisite detail is what makes it renowned.

You should also use your map of Seville to locate the Archivo de Indias. Since its construction was completed in 1785, this structure on the Plaza del Triunfo's west side has archived Spain's colonial empire in the Americas. The building contains documents numbering over 80 million pages. These documents date from 1492, to the empire's end during the 1800s. 

Another noteworthy place to visit in Seville is the Plaza de Espana. This site was the showpiece of the Spanish-Americas Fair of 1929. The plaza includes mini canals and fountains, and is encompassed by various tile works that symbolize each of Spain's provinces.  

Finally, a Sevilla map can lead you to the Antigua Fabrica de Tabacos-another must-see attraction in the city. This ancient tobacco factory was the setting for "Carmen." Today, this tourist spot is affiliated with Seville University, and is accessible to the public during the daytime.
